In the meeting with sue yesterday we were told that the idea behind this book was to use colour to separate the two pathways up (Fashion & Innovation and Fashion & Design) in addition to juxtaposing the orientation of the publications back to back. The photography was then done in black and white to not take focus away form the colour division. The vertical drop down also features heavily throughout the publication (is used on the cover, to house the body copy and was also used on the exhibition banners last year.)
The stock choice was satin and the cover also has a gloss process on it. Im not sure how feasable this would be to do this year, with our budget of £2,500. We want to stick to this as closely as possible and if possible not even use all of that to give leway for a specialist process cover like a gloss.
Ben took some notes in the first meeting:
- Paul is our point of contact (Liason)
- Sue is the authority, and wants the bigger decisions running by her (final decisions)
- We are to be thematically informed by two pathways which are:
- ROUTE A: fashion and innovation - concept and communication, product & Branding
- ROUTE B: fashion and design - Concept attach it to a trend that they are inspired by, ends with production and catwalk show (Mens & Womenswear)
- A+B - photographs, seperate the two categories (A focus on branding, B focus on garment)
- Clear distinction between Route A and B
- The final deadline for print is 1st June with exhibition in the 3rd.
- Final numbers for pathway groups TBC
Sue is going to email us links to tumblrs with images of work on them for us to mock up layouts with
There is also a possiblity at this stage of us designing Banners for fashion week.
