Brief 3 ideas 'music hardware interface'

I started generating ideas for this brief, and was asked by edd to turn this brief again, into a collaboration. So I have re written it based on some initial ideas i had:

Initial ideas:

  • "vector taxonomy' of synths, sequencers, mixers, cables and rigs / set ups of hardware and how it works
  • Pick 10 iconic synths, 5 iconic sequencers, 5 mixers, 3 types of cable + adaptor - draw for each: front view, back view, top view. Include measurements, annotation, manufacturers logo a bio, history and famous users for each.
  • Some of the items could have exploded views?
Product:
  • 1 complete publication and a proposal for another (eg music software interface & music interface) - cover and a double page spread for proposal. Content as above.
Range
  • Hand printed posters of hardware, this can become promotional ads for the publication but also for the hardware itself. (Ad for each manufacturer featured eg Akai, Korg, Moog etc.)
  • Ads can also take shape in web & commercial print formats - spottily ads, banners and posters for music retailers
  • set of stickers to go on synths
Distribution
  • Could be an E - Book / E Book sample + hard copy sold on line and in store (Who? specify what company would publish a book like this, and who would sell it.)
  • Ads on billboards, buses, posters
  • Exhibition graphics - an exhibition is something that would fit with this type of cataloguing and information well. - Post cards, way finding graphics, tickets and info.
  • An Iphone app could be proposed - eg a sequencer that would actually play beats or sounds - would need sound banks, settings menus etc. "miniMoog" app.
Research driven illustration - with a focus on print delivery and print/online promotion.
