All illustrations combined into one document, this is the twelve, its not one illustration per month of the year, but three illustrations for
each month in a quarter, and ive done the first three quarters. This is because as well as appyling the illustrations into the context of G2 covers, I want to propose a new publication which could be an artists take on the year, or quarter, almost like a feature for the artist, but they are making a visual statement about world affairs of that particular year. this would for the illustrations into the context of editorial alongside large quantities of text, It basically allows me to further study an illustrators place in pre print, and the considerations which need to be made.
I decided to make the illustrations uniform in their visual appearance for that reason. I made the main illustration the focus, and then the background either a solid colour, or a texture that relates to the image, for example the gun, i made a smoke texture in photoshop because the article is about a war on smoking. and the cover titled: "The world is flat, what planet is he on?" is a visual representation of that, with a pixelated background of a galaxy behind the character with a flat head, to create uncertainty about what the image behind actually is: also looks really nice in contrast to the relatively simple illustration.
